Esther brings over two decades of distinguished experience in strategic leadership, operational management, and transformative growth within the microfinance and financial services sectors. She has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to sustainable development, financial inclusion, and community empowerment throughout her career.

Esther’s career trajectory includes various senior management roles, most recently as Chief Operations Officer at Vision Fund Kenya. In this position, she successfully led initiatives that fostered significant portfolio growth, improved operational efficiencies through digital transformation, and built a high-performance culture dedicated to serving underserved communities.

Her expertise spans strategic planning, risk management, team leadership, and the development of customer-centric financial solutions. Esther has a proven record of accomplishment of driving growth and implementing turnaround strategies in dynamic environments, resulting in improved portfolio quality and the execution of transformative projects aligned with organizational missions.

A visionary and collaborative leader, Esther emphasizes ethical practices and community impact while leveraging technology to increase access to essential financial services. Her leadership approach is rooted in empowering teams, fostering continuous improvement, and achieving operational excellence.

Esther holds an MBA from the University of South Wales, combining her academic foundation with years of practical, hands-on experience. As the new CEO of ECLOF Kenya, she is passionate about advancing the organization’s mission to provide inclusive and impactful financial services that empower individuals and communities. Under her leadership, ECLOF Kenya is poised for new growth, enhanced operational efficiency, and a continued focus on financial sustainability.

Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter for ECLOF Kenya, and the Board of Directors are confident in her ability to lead the organization to new heights of success.

Geoffrey Okochi is the Head of Business Development and Credit Administration at ECLOF Kenya. He brings over 15 years of progressive experience in financial services, microfinance, and digital transformation, with a strong track record in business growth, credit risk management, and operational leadership. In his current role, Geoffrey leads the institution’s growth and diversification agenda while also overseeing credit administration and debt recovery functions, ensuring a balanced focus on portfolio expansion, asset quality, and long-term sustainability. He is responsible for driving the growth of key business lines including micro individual loans, digital micro insurance, mobile-based lending, and agribusiness financing, while strengthening credit processes, portfolio monitoring, and recovery strategies.

Geoffrey has played a pivotal role in advancing product innovation and digitization, including the rollout of mobile-based lending solutions, development of digital micro insurance frameworks, and implementation of systems that enhance efficiency, customer experience, and data-driven decision-making. He continues to lead strategic partnerships, fundraising initiatives, and market expansion efforts that deepen outreach and improve financial inclusion for underserved communities.

Before rejoining ECLOF Kenya, Geoffrey served as Head of Operations at Ed Partners Africa, where he spearheaded core banking system implementation and broader digital transformation initiatives to streamline processes and improve turnaround times. He previously held several roles at ECLOF Kenya, including Senior Credit Risk Officer, where he led the rollout of SME lending and conducted extensive capacity building across the institution.

Geoffrey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Moi University and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management at Kenyatta University. He is an Associate of the Kenya Institute of Bankers (AKIB) and holds certifications in credit management, debt recovery, and financial literacy training. His professional strengths lie in strategic leadership, credit and risk management, digitization, and delivering sustainable growth through inclusive finance.

James Kamau Mungai
Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance Manager
James Kamau Mungai is the Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance Manager at ECLOF Kenya, where he leads the Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance function, providing independent assurance over governance, enterprise risk management, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and fraud risk management. He advises Senior Management and the Board on strategic and emerging risks while driving a strong culture of accountability, risk awareness, compliance, and continuous improvement across the institution.
James brings over nine years of progressive experience in internal audit, enterprise risk management, compliance, and audit advisory across microfinance, digital financial services, and professional services. His experience spans leadership roles at ECLOF Kenya, ASA International Kenya, Kyosk Digital Services, and PSK Associates, giving him broad exposure to financial services, multi-branch operations, digital business models, and complex operational environments.
Prior to his current role, James served as Head of Internal Audit at ASA International Kenya, where he led the internal audit function and provided independent assurance over governance, risk management, internal controls, and operational effectiveness across a geographically dispersed branch network. He worked closely with the Audit Committee and Executive Management, providing insights to strengthen control environments, address emerging risks, and improve organizational performance.
At ECLOF Kenya, James has played a key role in strengthening the institution’s Enterprise Risk Management framework, risk-based internal audit methodology, governance processes, and compliance oversight. He has led the development and implementation of risk-based audit plans, enterprise risk assessments, fraud risk management initiatives, special audits, and investigations, while supporting management and Board-level reporting on key institutional risks.
James has also led fraud investigations, forensic reviews, and special audits requiring timely and practical responses to emerging risks. His approach combines independent assurance with a strong focus on practical remediation, sustainable control improvements, and business performance. He has contributed to operational efficiency and cost optimization, including achieving more than a 10% reduction in audit operating costs through improved planning, process optimization, and effective resource utilization.
His experience across multi-branch and high-volume financial and digital operations has equipped him with a strong understanding of credit risk, operational risk, fraud risk, regulatory compliance, technology and data risks, and governance. He is particularly passionate about using risk management and internal audit not only as assurance functions, but as strategic tools for building resilient, sustainable, and high-performing institutions.
James holds a Bachelor of Business Management (Finance & Banking) degree from Moi University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). His professional strengths include Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk Management, Governance, Regulatory Compliance, Fraud Risk Management, Internal Controls, and Strategic Risk Advisory.

 

Moses Njoroge Watoro
Finance Manager
Moses Njoroge Watoro is a seasoned finance professional with over 10 years of experience in financial management, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, taxation, audit, regulatory compliance, risk management, and internal controls.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) from Kenya Methodist University, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) and a member of ICPAK. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Finance at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
As Finance Manager at ECLOF Kenya, Moses provides financial leadership in strengthening financial planning, budgeting, cash flow management, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, risk management, and financial accountability. He supports management with accurate and timely financial information for sound decision-making, while driving efficiency, effective resource utilisation, and sustainable financial performance.
Moses brings expertise in financial systems and process improvement, audit coordination, taxation, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance, with experience spanning the microfinance, banking, corporate, and development sectors. His previous roles include VisionFund Kenya, Kenblest Group Limited, Justice Defenders, Save the Children International, and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB).
He brings strong analytical, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a focus on strengthening ECLOF Kenya’s financial stewardship, operational efficiency, transparency, and long-term sustainability.
Nancy Mutua
Executive Assistant & Communications Manager

Nancy Mutua is a communications and executive support professional with over a decade of experience in corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, and administration. She serves as Executive Assistant to the CEO and Communications Manager at ECLOF Kenya, where she leads communication strategy, brand positioning, and stakeholder engagement.

She has played a key role in strengthening the organization’s visibility, digital presence, and internal communications, while supporting senior leadership in driving strategic initiatives. Nancy’s expertise spans corporate communication, customer relationship management, event coordination, and board-level support.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Public Relations) and a Diploma in Secretarial Studies, and is a member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK). She has also undertaken professional trainings in management, leadership communication, and executive support.

Scola Wambui
