Douglas Mwendwa
Board Chair

Mr.  Douglas Mwendwa is a holder of MBA (Finance) from the University of Leicester, UK and Bachelor of Arts (Business Management) from Moi University, Kenya. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPA-K), the institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPS-K) and the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM)

He has more than 20 years’ experience in accounting, financial management, human resource management and administration acquired from both commercial and NGO sectors. He is currently a Director of Finance for Jhpiego Kenya – an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, providing financial oversight of projects funded by various donors including United States Agency for International Development (USAID) centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).

He has previously worked with Pollmans Tours & Safaris, Kenya Finance Bank, TFS Cargo Services and Heifer International. Mr. Mwendwa has work and consultancy experience in many countries including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia

Nicolas Karambadzakis
Board Member

Nicolas is a trained banker with 25 years of experience in micro and small enterprise lending, social investment, fundraising, impact assessment and technical assistance management. For German-based consultancy Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, he advised banks downscaling to micro and small enterprise lending and managed advisory projects around financial inclusion in Africa and Asia for international development banks; prior to that he was part of the team building up the European Fund for Southeast Europe, a large microfinance investment vehicle. During the last ten years, Nicolas led the transition of ECLOF’s fundraising from a grants-based to a market-based investment model; and he led initiatives around Social Performance Management and impact assessment across the ECLOF network. Nicolas is a qualified social auditor (Cerise SPI4), holds a Bachelor’s degree in business and an MBA from Cambridge University. He speaks German, English, Russian, Spanish and Macedonian.

Esther Moyi – Chief Executive Officer, ECLOF Kenya

Esther brings over two decades of distinguished experience in strategic leadership, operational management, and transformative growth within the microfinance and financial services sectors. She has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to sustainable development, financial inclusion, and community empowerment throughout her career.

Esther’s career trajectory includes various senior management roles, most recently as Chief Operations Officer at Vision Fund Kenya. In this position, she successfully led initiatives that fostered significant portfolio growth, improved operational efficiencies through digital transformation, and built a high-performance culture dedicated to serving underserved communities.

Her expertise spans strategic planning, risk management, team leadership, and the development of customer-centric financial solutions. Esther has a proven record of accomplishment of driving growth and implementing turnaround strategies in dynamic environments, resulting in improved portfolio quality and the execution of transformative projects aligned with organizational missions.

A visionary and collaborative leader, Esther emphasizes ethical practices and community impact while leveraging technology to increase access to essential financial services. Her leadership approach is rooted in empowering teams, fostering continuous improvement, and achieving operational excellence.

Esther holds an MBA from the University of South Wales, combining her academic foundation with years of practical, hands-on experience. As the new CEO of ECLOF Kenya, she is passionate about advancing the organization’s mission to provide inclusive and impactful financial services that empower individuals and communities. Under her leadership, ECLOF Kenya is poised for new growth, enhanced operational efficiency, and a continued focus on financial sustainability.

Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter for ECLOF Kenya, and the Board of Directors are confident in her ability to lead the organization to new heights of success.

 

Vincent Freedom Kaheeru
Board Member

Vincent is a holder of Master’s Degree in Banking and Finance for Development from Giordano Dell’Amore Foundation, Milano, Italy and BSC. (Agric.) (Hon). Vincent is Chairman/ Director, VFK & Associates Consulting Limited. He is also the National Director, Profiles International Uganda Ltd, a Management Consultancy firm with a focus on provision of Human Resource Management Solutions, corporate governance, agricultural lending and credit administration and appraisal advisory services, amongst others. Vincent carries immeasurable experience as a seasoned Banker, Agriculturalist, Corporate Governance Expert and Human Resource (HR) management Consultant. He is one of the most experienced Corporate Governance practitioners in the East African Region.

He has previously served on several Boards including: Crystal Clear Software Limited (ended board membership on 31st December, 2016), Uganda Development Bank, Post Bank (U) Ltd, New Vision, Produce Marketing Board, Uganda Post Limited and Feed the Children, ECLOF International (where he served as the African Region Representative, ended May 2018) and Agribusiness Initiative (aBi) Trust (ended 31st December, 2018).Currently, Vincent is serving on the Boards of; ECLOF Uganda (a microfinance institution, where he is Chairman of the Board) and he is a Board Member of ECLOF Kenya (where he was nominated by ECLOF International).

Timothy Mitheu
Board Member

Timothy holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Certificate in Corporate Governance, a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Public Secretary, was the best candidate in Kenya in the Administrative practice paper section 4 of CPS in 1991. Timothy has experience in Finance for over 20 years. He has worked in various organizations which include: Lecturer in Technical Education, Finance Manager Triad Energy LTD, Karumasi Consulting Ltd as a Financial Management Consultant. Timothy has worked with Fronfrin Training ltd as a Training Manager. He is currently working with Methodist Church in Kenya as Head of Audit.

Wilson Gathogo
Board Member

Mr Gathogo is a lawyer by profession and an Advocate to the High Court of Kenya. He has Bachelor of Law Degree (L.L.B) second Class Honors (upper Division) from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma from the Kenya school of Law. In the year 2011 Notary Public Commissioner for oaths, 2010-2012 Partner at Gathogo Kago & Manthi Advocates, 2006-2010 Associate Advocate at Wambugu Motende Advocates, 2012 to date he is a partner at Lesinko Njoroge & Gathogo Advocates.
